Una vez que la tripulacin llega hasta Alabasta, comienzan una serie de batallas contra los Baroque Works y su lder, el Shichibukai. Sir Crocodile. Luffy finalmente derrota a Crocodile y libera Alabasta. Inmediatamente despus, Nico Robin, una arqueloga que antes perteneca a Baroque Works, se une a la tripulacin. Asimismo, conocen a Barbanegra, alias de Marshal D. Teach, quien tambin aspira a convertirse en el Rey de los Piratas.
